… to Bukula Adventist School!

Bukula Primary School, located on Buvuma Island in Lake Victoria, Uganda, was founded in 1997. Initially established in makeshift structures, the school was a project of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, with a vision to support and uplift disadvantaged children, particularly orphans and those from impoverished families.

The school serves both day and boarding students and has grown significantly since its inception. Its mission remains focused on providing quality education and care to children in need.

Educational Concept and Specialization

A. Age Range and Grade Levels
The school provides education to children from the age of 4 through to approximately 16 years, covering kindergarten through to Primary Seven.

B. Day and Boarding School
Bukula SDA Primary School is a mixed institution offering both day and boarding options. The school emphasizes holistic development, nurturing both academic growth and spiritual well-being. It is a God-fearing school, grounded in Christian values, aiming to instill a strong moral foundation in every student.

C. Educational Vision
The school is dedicated to shaping well-rounded individuals through the following educational goals:

  • To equip students with the skills and values needed to care for themselves and others.
  • To cultivate a sense of responsibility by teaching children how to grow and nurture vegetables and other plants.
  • To instill a strong work ethic by training students in animal care and husbandry.

D. Learning Skills
The school aims to provide practical life skills that are valuable for personal development and self-sufficiency. These include:

  • Sewing and knitting
  • Cleaning clothes and maintaining household cleanliness
  • Caring for poultry and livestock
  • Furniture making
  • Painting and decorating
  • Basic building and construction

ADMISSION AND SCHOOL FEES

A. Who can attend the school?
The school welcomes every child in the abovementioned age range who agree to the values of the school

B. Price of school fee for day scholars
Tuition is UGX 40,000 per month for four months, totaling UGX 160,000 per term, or UGX 480,000 annually.

C. Price for tuition and boarding school
Boarding pupils are required to pay UGX 100,000 per month, totaling UGX 400,000 per term and UGX 1,200,000 annually. Additionally, each boarding pupil must contribute UGX 100,000 twice a year for expenses such as books, writing material, clothing, medicine, and hygiene items, bringing the total to UGX 1,400,000 per year.

HELPING ORPHANS ATTEND SCHOOL

There are many orphans wisihing to attend the school.

Currently, there are about 60 orphans who need assistance. That means that they have no parents and not relatives nor guardians to support them.

There are about 40 orphans with guardians or relatives, but these families are struggling financially.

About 90 children belong to poor families who struggle to earn the money to pay the school fee.

Sponsorship

Currently, there are two sponsorships supporting two orphans.

With every new sponsorship another child will be able to attend the school. The required annual amount for one sponsorship is similar to the fees for a boarding pupil:

To simplyfy things, every sponsor supporting in Euros, is asked to start with 60 € the first month and 30 € every following month.

The 60 € in the first month are for different purposes:

  • 30 € for expenses such as books, writing material, clothing, medicine, and hygiene items
  • 25 € for school fees, lodging and food for the first month
  • 5 € monthly deposit that will be collected until there are 30 € and then sent to the school so that every orphan gets an additional material package every six month. A they are children, they will grow and need bigger clothes, shoes and new books, pencils and so on.
